Fees and Billing
The standard fee for a Standard Consultation (10-15 mins) ranges from $70.00*. The Medicare rebate for this is $35.60*, which now can be promptly refunded to your bank account by our new HIC Online software. All you require is to provide us with your bank account details (which are kept private). Alternatively, we can arrange for your refund cheque to be mailed to you.
The basic Long Consultation (20-30 mins) fee is $130.00 with a Medicare rebate for this set at $69.00.
Please note that Each of the doctors has a separate fee schedule especially for Musculoskeletal & Women’s Health consultations.
Payment at the time of consultation is required, either in full or in special situations, the "gap" amount. Cash, cheque, credit card (Bankcard, MasterCard, Visa) can be used for settlement.
Between 10.00am and 5.00pm, direct (bulk) billing to Medicare is available at the Practice for infants and school children up to age 16 as well as Veterans’ Affairs Gold Cardholders and Age Pensioners over 65yrs. All other Centrelink Concession Card holders and University Students are eligible for discounted fees upon presentation of valid cards. Non-smoking patients considered in need, may be bulk billed * at the doctor's discretion.
*Bulk billing represents a 50% reduction below the recommended AMA consultation fee and despite recent improvements is still well below the level at which quality services can be provided.
In order to maintain high standards of equipment and facilities, all procedural work such as excisions, fracture care and wound sutures, in general, will attract a gap fee for non-cardholders. This fee will vary according tothe complexity and length of the procedure. The maximum gap is $60 per single procedure.
Pre-booked long consultations for counselling purposes, complete well woman checks, musculoskeletal therapy, as well as complete yearly physical checkups, will similarly attract extra fees. Accounts are discussed openly upon request and any queries you may have regarding fees are welcome. There are many different procedures in General Practice, and the fees often vary widely.
Please ask at reception about free Health Assessments for over 75’s, Annual Diabetes Checkups, Asthma 2+ visits, Home Medication reviews and Care Planning for complex illnesses. Taking advantage of these processes can greatly reduce the cost of your usual care as they are all bulkbilled. As well, if you have a Care Plan prepared, you may be able to access subsidies for allied health services such as physiotherapy, podiatry and dietary advice.
