Dr Michael Yelland
MB.BS (Qld) FRACGP Grad Dip Musculoskeletal Medicine (Flinders)Dr Yelland commenced his position as Associate Professor of Primary Health Care in the School of Medicine at Griffith University in 2005 after 13 years as Senior Lecturer in General Practice at University of Queensland. He is based at the Logan campus of Griffith University but also works at the Southport campus.
His research and teaching interests focus on evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal pain. His PhD on "Prolotherapy for Chronic Low Back Pain" was awarded in 2005 by University of Queensland and was granted a Dean's commendation in 2007. He has published on the reliability and prevalence of signs in thoracic spinal pain and on pain referred to the chest and abdomen from the thoracic spine. He chaired the Australian Acute Thoracic Spinal Pain Guidelines group in 2001-2002.
His current research interests include the diagnosis and management of non-cardiac chest pain and the treatment of Achilles Tendinopathy. He is the immediate past-president of the Australian Association of Musculoskeletal Medicine. His clinical practice at Arana Hills is in general practice and musculoskeletal medicine.
