This practice is located 300kms due north of Port Augusta & 600kms from Adelaide. We are rural, remote, mining and pastoral. Roxby is the service town to over 4500 people.

The practice is located within the auspices of the Roxby Downs Health Services. The hospital is a purpose built building to house the Medical Practice, Community Health, Dental, Physiotherapy and to accommodate the allied health team that flies into Roxby Downs once a month. These practices are all privately run.

The Olympic Dam Mine operates 24hrs a day, therefore the medical staff is on call to meet that need. The doctors are skilled in accident and emergency medicine and in conjuction with the hospital control the emergency flyout of patients by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. If needed retrieval teams from major Adelaide Hospitals are flown in.

At present, there are two full-time Doctors and two part-time doctors. There is a full-time practice manager and two full-time & two part-time clerical assistants. In conclusion, we are a busy 24hr practice meeting the needs of a very wide range of people complicated by separation of families by employment and the extreme remoteness of our location.
