Policies and Appointments

Policy

Scripts and Referrals All patients must book an appointment to get scripts and referrals, except in exceptional circumstances.

It is not acceptable for a patient or the receptionist of a specialist to phone on the day to request a referral. Where this is done, one of the doctors may be able to provide a referral, however it is likely it will not be done until after the session has finished. Where the doctor is able to write a referral, a $35 non-rebatable fee will apply.

Scripts for ongoing medications may be completed at the doctor\'s discretion, however it is necessary to discuss this with the doctor during consultation.

Non Attendance A fee may be charged if a patient does not attend their scheduled appointment, or does not give at least an hours notice of non-attendance.

Home Visits Home visits must be arranged with the doctor. These are usually performed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. While the receptionist is able to make a tentative booking, this must be confirmed with the doctor.

Accounts Accounts not paid on the day will attract an additional fee.

Phone Requests and Messages Messages may be left for the doctors regarding results or information on their own history (eg. immunisation dates), however queries regarding \"what a patient should do\" will not be accepted. In this case, the patient should book an appointment to see a doctor. Where an appointment is not available, or in exceptional circumstances, the receptionist can, at their discretion, take a message to pass on to the doctor.

Results It is policy that patients call the surgery to obtain their results following their consultation. The doctor should give an estimated time frame for the results to be sent back to the clinic. Please note that unless otherwise indicated, it is the responsibility of the patient to follow up on their results.
