During the Accreditation process medical records are randomly selected by a GP for quality assurance purposes. If you do not wish for your personal record to be accessed please inform your doctor.
Policy
The following areas have specific surgery policies
Telephone calls to Doctors
Telephone calls may interrupt consultations and inconvenience other patients. The reception staff are happy to take a message and ask the Doctor to return your call at his/her convenience. It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the phone. If the call is regarding an urgent medical situation, please inform the receptionist and you will be transferred to the Doctor concerned.
Sickness Certificates
A sickness certificate is a legal document and as such will be treated as one. Hence if a certificate is required you must be seen by a Doctor.
Home Visits
The policy of this Medical Centre is to provide the medical services within the Surgery. The patient access to treatment at the surgery is enhanced and home visits are usually kept to a minimum. However, home visits may be made with prior consultation with the patient's Doctor and at the Doctor's discretion. Home visits to concession card holders will be bulk billed but non concession card holders will be charged a fee. Please refer to our reception staff for any queries on fees charged.

Always telephone the surgery first and you will be advised of the appropriate action
Referral Policies
It is a legal requirement under the Medicare Act that a referral to a Specialist can only be given after due consideration by the treating practitioner. This obviously requires the physical attendance of the patient before seeing the Specialist. These cannot be backdated.
Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions (via telephone) will not normally be issued without seeing the patient, although individual cases will be decided by the attending Doctor. There may be a charge for provision of a script with no appointment.
Test Result
For medico-legal reasons results will not be given out over the phone by reception staff. It is your responsibility to make a follow-up appointment to receive test results unless otherwise arranged with your Doctor.
Reminders & Recalls
This practice has a reminder system for preventative medicine such as Pap Smears, Cholesterol checks, Mammograms, Blood Pressure, Annual Diabetes reviews, Aged Health Assessments, GP Management Plans, Medication reviews etc. This means you may be sent a reminder for a check-up. Please let staff know if you do not wish to be on the reminder system.
Sterilisation of Instruments
All needles and surgical instruments used in our Practice are disposable or sterilised by Smith's Sterilising Pty Ltd for each and every patient.

This Policy recognises that Ingle Farm Medical Centre is responsible for the Health and Safety of all employees in the workplace. In fulfilling this responsibility we have a duty to provide and maintain a safe working environment without any risks to health.
To meet the objectives of this Policy, we are committed to regular discussions with employees to ensure that Health and Safety issues are reviewed regularly. Health and Safety is most effective when a joint Owner/Manager and Employee consult regularly.
No Smoking
Ingle Farm Medical Centre has a no smoking policy.
