PAEDIATRlCS AND CHILD HEALTH

 All of our doctors have an interest in paediatrics. All baby and childhood vaccinations are available at The Clinic with a computerised recall system. All children should be immunised as per the immunisation schedule against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus (triple antigen), Poliomyelitis (Sabine), Haemophilus influenza B (Hib), Measles, Mumps, Rubella and others.  These vaccinations are a requirement for school entry in Victoria. Treatment for the whole range of childhood illness is available.

 

 

WOMEN'S HEALTH

Family planning and contraceptive advice is available as well as menopausal and Hormone Replacement Therapy. Breast examinations are provided and breast self examination is taught. It is recommended that all women have an annual breast examination by one of the doctors, and examine their own breasts every month. All women over 50 should have a mammogram every two years which can be arranged by your doctor. Pap Smears are performed and it is recommended that all women aged 18-70 have a cervical pap smear every two years.

All females between the ages of 12 -27 should have the cervical cancer vaccine.  This is provided free.

The diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis is available. Pregnancy testing is performed and obstetric shared care can be arranged.

 

 

MEN'S HEALTH

There is a growing awareness of the specific health care needs of men. Our records can provide examinations for prostate cancer (recommended annually for all men over 50) and testicular cancer. It is important for men of all ages to be aware of self examination techniques to ensure any testicular changes are detected early. Our doctors can also advise and offer treatment for a range of sexual health issues including impotence.

 

TRAVEL MEDICINE

When planning an overseas trip it is important to gain accurate information with regard to immunisations needed for the countries being visited, togethcr with preventative advice. Many travel vaccinations need to be commenced well in advance. Some fees apply.

 

IMMUNISATIONS

All adults should have a booster for tetanus and diphtheria and poliomyelitis at least every 10 years, and an early tetanus booster in the event of an injury. An annual influenza vaccination, pneumonia vaccination is free for all patients over 65 years. A wide range of other vaccinations including Hep B, Hep A, Typhoid, TB, etc are also available. A fee will apply.

 

VASECTOMY

This service provided at the clinic under local anaesthetic. Further information including costs can be obtained at the reception. There is not a long waiting period.

 

CIRCUMCISION

PATHOLOGY AND IMAGING

Many of the pathology tests samples can be taken at the clinic. X-rays and other tests can be referred locally whenever possible.

 

TELEPHONE ACCESS

Practicioners in the Practice may be contacted during normal operating hours. If they are with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely they will return your call. In an emergency, your call will always be addressed promptly.

 

 

CASUALTY AND EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Urgent examinations and treatment of accidents and emergencies are provided e.g. Suturing of lacerations, management of common fractures, acute asthma care etc.

 

 

RESULTS

At the time of consultation you will be fiully informed about the tests ordered for you. Results of tests cannot be given over the phone. A follow up appointment is required with the Dr to discuss results.

 

 

DISABILITY ACCESS

On-site parking provides easy access to the clinic for disabled patients.

 

 

AFTER HOURS

For patients unable to attend the clinic during normal hours and who are unable to get to a doctor for non emergency medical issues, please call our Locum Service on 9429-5677.

Our practice is committed to preventive care. We may issue reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system please let us know at the reception.
