What is a Accredited Dietitian?
In Australia, the term Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) can be used by dietitians who belong to the professional association of the Dietitians Association ofAustralia (DAA), abide with a code of conduct and ethics and commit to ongoing professional continuing education. An APD is what you want to look for.
APDs are trained to assess nutritional needs. They also assist people to manage health conditions anddiseases using food as Medical Nutrition Therapy. APDs help treat a wide range of conditions including diabetes, heart disease, cancers, gastrointestinal diseases, food allergies, food intolerance’s, disordered eating as well as overweight and obesity.
APDs can help with everyday healthy eating by translating scientific health and nutrition information into practical advice.
What does a Dietitian do?
Dietitians use their expertise in food and nutrition to assist you in improving your health and wellbeing by understanding the relationship between food and health.
They help make dietary choices to achieve and maintain health, and to prevent and treat illness and disease.
A dietitian will work with you to make practical, sustainable changes to your eating habits and lifestyle, supporting you to achieve your goals.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals who have met the stringent accreditation criteria set by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
AEP’s specialise in the delivery of exercise & lifestyle modifications programs for both people with chronic conditions and healthy populations.

How patients can access visits to an exercise physiologist
GPMP / TCA Patients
If you have completed a GP Management plan & Team Care Arrangement and have had visits nominated to the Exercise Physiologist in that plan, you are eligible for a Medicare Rebate
Department of Veteran Affairs
DVA Patients simply require a referral from their GP and the cost is covered by DVA.
Private Patients
No referral is required to see an exercise physiologist.
Medicare is not associated with private appointments, therefore there is no rebate for these patients.
Private patients with private health insurance may be able to claim these visits through them, depending on the cover of the individual

Workcover Patients
Practitioner will need to have written consent from Insurance company stating they will accept treatment for individual patients to see an exercise physiologist
VICTORIAN WORKCOVER AUTHORITY
A medical practitioner must provide a referral for Exercise physiology services prior to commencement of treatment.
Each referral covers a maximum of 10 services. Following the provision of 10 services, the injured workers progress and outcomes should be reviewed by a medical practitioner. If subsequent services are required a further referral must be provided.

Diabetes Educator
Sarah Phillips and Ash Watson are the practice Diabetes Educators.
A Diabetes Educators role:
Provide self management education for people with diabetes.
Complements the doctors role by helping the patient understand their condition as fully as possible.
Assists in achieving good glycaemic control.
Ensuring appointments and necessary pathology testing are up-to-date.

Vaccines
You are able to purchase some vaccines from the surgery. Should you bring a privately purchased vaccine into the practice, please hand this vaccine to reception on your arrival. Clients are able to book in with practice nurses for some vaccines, please discuss with receptionist when booking.

This is a full system review followed by a GP appointment to address any concerns that are found when talking with the nurse, to complete a medication review and fill out any prescriptions that may be required. in some cases, a referral to other health care providers is deemed necessary and your GP will organize these also.
