Philosophy Of Care

The Skin Cancer Service is being run to address the great burden of this disease on the Dubbo and surrounding communities.

The service is largely bulk-billed to ensure adequate access by all members of the community.

Ongoing education and the maintaining of high standard care are continuously and actively persued to ensure the best possible care of our patients.

Clients are encouraged to develop a long-term relationship with Dr Tomas to ensure continuity of care.

If new skin problems develop or if there are complications from treatment, clients are strongly urged to contact Dr Tomas ASAP (his home number and mobile phone number are available to anyone undergoing minor surgery).

Results and letters are automatically sent to the client\'s usual family doctor to ensure that they are kept in touch with the client\'s medical history.

Occasionally, as with all aspects of medical care, the diagnosis or outcome of treatment may not be as anticipated. Fortunately, due to tight quality control, the rate of complications has been very low. In light of this, clients are always encouraged to discuss their care with Dr Tomas, request referral (or a second opinion) if desired and to report any complications ASAP if they do occur.

In all, it is the view of the Central Medical Practice Skin Cancer Service, that treating the local community is a great responsibility though at the same time, an even greater privilege.
