Vaucluse Hyperbaric Medicine & Wound Care Facility

This comprehensive hyperbaric medicine facility in Vaucluse Hospital, Melbourne was opened in February 1998. It is a state of the art multiplace facility that can comfortably seat seven patients. A nurse is with you during treatment.

Problem wound management is our main focus, particularly diabetic non-healing surgical wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, other leg ulcers and radiation necrosis. Other appropriate conditions include chronic osteomyelitis, compromised grafts and flaps, spider bite and necrotising infections, acute tinnitus and deafness and decompression illness.

Approved conditions are Medicare rebateable. Most patients attend as outpatients. Admission to the private hospital can be arranged if necessary. Referrals are not required.

Sports injury management is an area of special interest. Many elite athletes have been treated for haematomas (corks), sprains, strains, fractures and joint injuries. Early HBO is the key to reducing swelling and speeding recovery.
