Dr Tharanga Arav
BSc (Med) MBBS (Hons) UNSW, FRACGP, DCH, cert SHFP, Diploma DermoscopyTharanga graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 2004.
Over the following years, she gained general medical and surgical experience in numerous hospitals around Sydney and New South Wales, including Broken Hill and the Royal Flying Doctor Service. She then gained a further 2 years of experience in Anaesthesics at Concord and Canterbury Hospitals, before pursuing a career in General Practice.
Tharanga is now a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and also an examiner for the College.
Tharanga thoroughly enjoys the diversity and wholistic approach that General Practice offers, as well as the long term relationships she can build with patients and their families to see them through their health concerns. Tharanga is passionate about practicing high quality medicine and developing skills in diagnostic accuracy in acute medical conditions, as well as focusing on the importance of preventative health care strategies.
Tharanga has gained further education through a Diploma in Child Health, Certificate in Sexual Health and Family Planning and is currently completing a Diploma in Dermoscopy (Skin Cancer). She is registered for Antenatal Share Care to see women through their pregnancies at local public hospitals.
Outside of work Tharanga enjoys spending time with her 3 energetic young boys and husband. She also enjoys travelling, jigsaw puzzles and baking with her boys.
