Policies and Appointments

Policy

The PBMC is a private medical practice endeavouring to provide the best possible comprehensive general practice care to individuals and families in this community.

Appointments are preferred for all consultations but a few times are kept for urgent problems. It is wise to let reception staff know if your consultation involves a minor operation, medical examination etc so adequate time is booked.

Telephone calls.  The doctors prefer not to take patient calls while consulting unless there is an emergency. Routine calls will be returned as soon as possible.

Repeat prescriptions are only written if the patient has been followed up regularly. There is a $5 fee.

Results are usually discussed at a follow up consultation unless it is routine and normal (eg. pap smear) when it can be given by phone.

Home visits are provided when medically necessary.

Specialist referrals. A consultation is necessary.

FEEDBACK  If you have any concerns about any aspect of the service and care provided at the practice, please feel free to talk to our doctors or staff. We believe problems are best dealt with within the practice. Should patients wish to discuss the matter outside, the contact details for the Health Rights Commission are: GPO Box 3089 Brisbane 4001. Phone 1800077308.
