Our phones are open from 8.10am to take bookings.  As the standard length of consultation is 10 to 15 mins, if you have a complex problem or multiple issues to discuss please request a longer appointment.
Please make bookings for each person wishing to consult the doctor at the time of booking. This helps us reduce waiting times for both yourself and others. If it is urgent please tell the receptionist at the time of phoning.

Fees and Billing Arrangements:
The cost of a standard consultation is $47 and a longer consultation $85.
Concession Card holders and children under 16 are bulkbilled if a Medicare card and current concession card are presented at each visit.  

Commercial driver’s licences, insurance medicals, skin checks and some other services attract an additional fee.  This will be discussed at the time of booking and payment by credit card or cash is required at the time of service.

Work related injuries are usually covered by your employer’s insurance. Please tell the receptionist if your injury is work related.

Patients not registered with Medicare and visitors from overseas are required to pay $50 for a standard appointment at the time of consultation. Longer appointments (20 minutes) cost $85.

If you are referred to a specialist you need to ask that specialist about fees and any other costs that may arise.

If you require the doctor to fill out forms ( ie for insurance, work, school, uni, gym, blood bank, passport, health funds you will need to make an appointment.

What to do if we are fully booked and you need to be seen?
By arranging appointments in advance (especially for the pill script and repeat medications and centrelink forms) in most circumstances you will be able to arrange an appointment at a time convenient to yourself. If your problem is urgent (ie urinary tract infection, something in the eye, chest pain ..) let the receptionist know and they will ask the doctor for guidance as to how best we can help.

After Hours Arrangements: 38319999
This practice provides after hours care through the Family Care Medical Service. A doctor from this practice is available each weekday morning for urgent medical services.  Please phone 38319999 to contact a doctor after hours. There may be a fee for this service. Please ask when requesting this service.

For life threatening emergencies please call 000.

Home Visits:
Home visits are available for regular patients whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery at the discretion of the doctor. There is a fee for this service depending on distance and length of consultation.

Medical Certificates
All medical certificates require a consultation.

We trust our patients are responsible enough to follow up results of investigations done for them and to keep specialist appointments that are arranged for them.  We do have a recall system however we expect that each patient will phone to follow up their results. Most results are available at the time of phoning however in some instances an appointment may be necessary.
If there is an urgent need to talk to the doctor speak to the receptionist explaining the situation.

Recalls and Reminders
The surgery has a system in place to manage recalls and reminders for preventative health. If you do not wish to participate please advise the doctor during the consultation.

Repeat Scripts: 38864433 after 10am
A consultation at the surgery is required for all prescriptions.  This is for medico-legal and ethical reasons and for your benefit. 

Referrals
Health Department Regulations require that a patient visits a doctor to be referred to a specialist. Please consult the doctor before visiting the specialist as a referral will not be back dated.

Parking:
Ample parking is available at the surgery.  For your convenience a car park is situated in the front of the building and is accessed from Gregor Street West. The drive way is beside the Lakelands Medical Building next to the double storey hospital car park.

Smoking Policy
As this is a health service we request you do not smoke while on the premises.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the care you receive from this practice, we are keen to know about it.  Please feel free to discuss it with a receptionist or ask to speak directly with one of the doctors.  You may prefer to write suggestions down and pop into the suggestion box on the front desk or send your comments in strict confidence to Dr Baker or Dr McGarvey at c.baker@lakelandsmedical.com.au .
