Policies and Appointments

Policy

Patients are our priority!

Our aim is to provide our patients with comprehensive health care, in a warm and friendly environment. The doctors and staff at Jayarams Medical Practice work hard to achieve this. We appreciate any help in this endeavour, for example asking for long consultation, if the problems are complex.

Urgent cases will be attended to.

Acutely ill patients will have priority over other non urgent cases. We apologise for any delays resultant from this very sensible policy

Suggestions and comments are welcome

Please feel free to offer constructive suggestions as to how we may improve our practise!

Appointments

Appointments may be made by telephone during Surgery Hours, or by calling into the rooms during that time. Urgent appointments are available each day, and emergencies are dealt with as they arise. The normal appointment times are for a 15 minute consultation, but we encourage patients with complex or multiple medical problems to book a 30 minute consultation. We attempt to keep to appointment times, but unforeseen problems and emergencies often disrupt punctuality. If you wish to phone the Surgery before your appointment time, the receptionist can estimate the delay if your Doctor is running late.

Telephoning Your Doctor

Each of the Doctors will take telephone calls regarding personal medical problems. He/she cannot be interrupted during consulting times unless the problem is very urgent. The receptionist will indicate the best time to contact an individual Doctor, or indicate when the doctor will call you back if appropriate.

After Hours Services

For after-hours emergency medical problems, please call 02-6343 1111 for the Practice Duty Doctor.

Out of Surgery Visits

The Doctors are available for House Calls and visits to Nursing Homes, and they have admitting rights to the local Public and Private Hospitals in order to ensure continuity of care of their Patients.

Prescriptions

We encourage people to make sure they have enough prescriptions at the time of each visit to their Doctor. Further prescriptions generally require an appointment with a Doctor, but if necessary, prescriptions will be issued at the request of the patients at the earliest.

Referrals

Referrals are issued after consultation with your Doctor.

Privacy & Confidentiality

We maintain full confidentiality of our patient\'s medical records and as such it is the policy of the clinic not to release any informations over the phone. It is important that the doctor discuss the results of any investigations with the patient on a face to face basis, so that any questions can be addressed properly.
