Dr Michael Hawkes graduated from Adelaide University and subsequently worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the Adelaide Children's Hospital and the Queen Victoria Hospital. He travelled overseas working for 12 months in the United Kingdom where he gained post graduate diplomas in obstetrics and anaethetics.

On return to Adelaide he joined this medical practice and has been a partner for over 25 years, giving him comprehensive experience in all aspects of medical practice.

In recent years he he also extended his interests to geriatric and palliative care.
