Policy

The Practice combines the caring aspect of traditional general practice with the knowledge and skill of modern family medicine. The doctor aims to provide a complete and personal approach to each patient's medical needs. The doctor recognises that health and illness are influenced by lifestyle (e.g. nutrition, exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption) and a whole range of social factors including relationships with other people.

One of the main objective of the Practice is to encourage the maintenance of good health through preventive medicine and active health promotion. To adequately look after their patients' health the doctor will:

  • Allow sufficient time for consultations.
  • Confer with each other and specialists and other health professionals when required.
  • Keep their medical knowledge, skills amd practice up to date through ongoing medical education.
  • Provide their patients with the best possible treatment using the most up to date and proven methods, materials and equipment; emphasizing prevention of disease is as high an ideal as the actual treatment of it.

This philosophy is best achieved in a working environment where we recognise the patient as being the most important person in the practice, and where we work in an ethical and responsible manner, in an environment of teamwork, with a mutual respect for each other's abilities and functions.
