Telephoning Your Doctor It is important to note that your health concerns are best dealt with in direct consultation with your Doctor. However our reception staff are experienced in helping you decide your consultation needs. If the matter requires further discussion you will be forwarded to the Registered Nurse on duty for further assessment, liaising with medical staff if required.

Depending on prior arrangement with your Doctor a phone discussion may be possible. Please be aware that during a consultation your Doctor may not be available to speak to you by phone. Our reception staff will take a message to be given to the Doctor concerned and they will return your call at their earliest convenience.

Repeat Prescriptions There are medical, legal and ethical reasons for a reluctance to provide a repeat prescription without the patient attending for a direct medical consultation.

Repeat prescritions are issued only at the discretion of the individual Doctor.

Specialist Referrals The Health Insurance Commission regulations require a referral from your Doctor before seeing a specialist. This allows you to receive the maximum medicare rebate. Referrals are valid for 12 months and a repeat referral requires a direct consultation with your Doctor. This consutation ensures that your health is fully assessed and that you are receiving the appropriate treatment for your condition.

It is important to note that referrals cannot be BACK DATED so you must obtain your referral prior to your specialist appointment.
