Policy

RACGP Training Program & Medical Undergraduate Training Most of the doctors in the practice satisfy the requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and are on the Vocational Register of General Practitioners. This means we have a commitment to general practice and a continuing medical education.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners accredits our practice for training doctors in General Practice. These doctors have completed their hospital-based experience and spend 6 months in the Eldridge Road Medical Health Centre to further their training.
The practice will also receive medical students from the University of New South Wales. Drs Jude Ng and Roger Fabian are their supervisors.

Home Visits Should you be too ill to attend the surgery, the doctors will make house calls if you live in the local area.
Requests for house calls must be made before 10am. This time limit has been seet to allow the practice to run more efficiently, for your benefit. House calls will be done by the on-duty doctor of the day. A fee is charged.

After-hours service (after 8pm) For your convenience this surgery provides its own after-hours service, for its own patients only, which can be contacted on 0410 328 266.
If you have severe chest pains or breathlessness, it is advised to call an ambulance on 000 or attend your local hospital immediately. The Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital 9722 8000.

Requests for Repeat Prescriptions In the best interest of your health it is our policy not regularly issue repeat prescriptions without seeing the patient. However your doctor may agree to this under some circumstances for example in an emergency. It is helpful if we have at least 24 hours notice in which to deal with your request. There will be a fee charged for this service.

Requests for referrals It is illegal to backdate referrals. If you know that you will require a referral to see a specialist, please make an appointment to see one of the surgery doctors, prior to your specialist appointment, to obtain the necessary documentation.

Telephone Calls Our doctors will take urgent phone calls relating to you or your family\'s health. If they are seeing patients the receptionist will take a message and your doctor will call you back.
Occasionally, the need of confidentiality may prevent the doctor from discussing with you, your family member or members, medical problems. However in most cases the doctor will fit you in as an appointment if it is urgent as phone diagnosis is very difficult and rather risky.

Results of X-Ray or Pathology A consultation is usually required to discuss the results unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
We believe it is also your responsibility to follow up results because you and the practice are a working partnership in keeping you healthy.
HIV test results are only available by law in person with the doctor
Pregnancy test results will only be given to you and not your nominee. Please have your Medicare Number handy as you may be asked prior to release of the results.

Reminder System Our practice is committed to preventive care. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventive health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system, please let us know at the reception.

Patient Feedback From time to time, this practice invites patients to complete a questionnaire on their views of the practice and how it could be improved. These surveys are completely confidential and help us to improve our services.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the care you receive, we are keen to know about it. Please feel free to talk to one of our doctors or the practice manager.

Appointments

Appointments are not generally required.

This surgery also operates on an appointment system with bookings being made by telephoning 9709 8288 during office hours.

To minimise inconvenience, vacancies are always left with each doctor to accommodate emergency consultations on the day. These appointments are allocated as patients ring in. While our doctors devote sufficient time to each patient to deal with his or her problem they may take longer than the allotted time, causing other patients to wait. Should you require a longer appointment time, for example first visit or medical check up, please advise the receptionist when making the appointment.

Where possible, you will be given an appointment with the doctor of your choice. In the event of the doctor of choice being totally booked out, your appointment will therefore be allocated to your next preferred doctor.

This surgery will see ALL URGENT cases on the day. Where possible, your doctor of choice will be available. Emergencies will always be accommodated on the day.
